The Washington DC Lindy Exchange, Inc. (DCLX) is an all volunteer, non-profit, educational organization composed of dancers primarily within the Metropolitan Washington, DC area.
The primary mission of the group is to promote, educate, and encourage swing dancing in the metropolitan Washington DC area. This is done through the development of educational opportunities to learn and practice various techniques and styles of Lindy Hop swing. DCLX also organizes an annual event for swing dancers throughout the world to come together for the enjoyment and advancement of swing dancing.
DCLX works in cooperation with other organizations to promote swing dance activities and education. DCLX has worked with local media to preserve and broadcast dance events on local community television shows. DCLX has also worked with the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture (GEPPAC) to promote its dance program at the historic Glen Echo Park.
All activities are conducted in the metropolitan Washington DC area. Members of the Washington DC Lindy Exchange Inc are all unpaid volunteers who organize and execute the various activities.
Stripping it down to its barest essence: we do this for the love of lindy hop and for your dancing pleasure.
Whenever we’re hosting an event at Glen Echo Park, they are sponsored in cooperation with the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts & Culture, Inc., the National Park Service and Montgomery County, MD.
